Barend de Wet (1956–2017) was a South African artist known for his diverse and unconventional work, including sculpture, performance, and knitting. His playful approach often blurred the lines between art and life, challenging traditional boundaries. De Wet's notable works include "Art Disguised as Pasta" (1996), where he prepared fresh pasta in a storefront as a performance piece. He also explored knitting in his later years, creating vibrant "knitted paintings." His career spanned nearly four decades, leaving a lasting impact on the South African art scene.
