Boris Vasilievich Kosarev (1897–1994) was a pioneering Ukrainian cubo‑futurist graphic and theatre artist, and later a professor in Kharkiv. His avant‑garde posters, illustrations and stage designs reflected early Soviet avant‑garde aesthetics within the influential “Union of Seven” group. His relative anonymity during his lifetime and posthumous rediscovery have led to questions about the suppression of avant-garde legacies in the USSR and the politics of artistic memory.
