Jacobus Kloppers: Tussenruimte

Gallery Bon Bon

Regular price R 250.00

Born in Nelspruit (Mpumalanga) in 1959, Kloppers built a distinctive body of work exploring place, travel, and identity—often through metaphorical depictions of farm dams, sties, and gates in the Karoo. Works from the “Tussenruimte / In‑Between‑Ness” series use found objects and open metaphors to evoke the non-place—space between destinations where the psyche wanders. Later series focus on road signs, maps, and aerial cloud motifs, suggesting that journeys and clouds are metaphors for the human psyche’s navigation through existential and cultural space. Kloppers’s art uses mixed media, combining oil on canvas, paper works, found objects, and even tarmac—creating textured, contemplative compositions that reflect both physical and mental terrains.www.latitudes.online
