Born on May 27, 1963, in Johannesburg, Tommy Motswai, despite being deaf, emerged as a prolific and accomplished artist, capturing the essence of his surroundings using pastels on paper. In his own expressions, he shared, “I like to draw happy people doing ordinary things like travelling on buses, talking and singing, in places I know well, like Soweto.”
